Nicolaus Copernicus was born on February 19, 1473, in Torun, Poland. Copernicus was a german mathematician and astronomer. Copernicus was the youngest out of 4 children. His siblings were Barbara, Catherine, and Andrew. His parents were Barbara and Mikolaj Kopernik. In German, his name would be spelled Kopernik, but translated to english it is Copernicus. At the age of ten, Copernicus' father passed. So his uncle, Lucas Watzenrode took him in for adoption.
Education:
In 1491, Copernicus took math and art at the University of Cracow. Although, he didn't take astronomy in school at that time, he later on fell in love with it. Copernicus found cosmos too be very interesting, so he got books and researched about them. That was the time when he got hooked up to astronomy. In 1494, Copernicus graduated from Cracow University.

Copernicus helped the king and his knights of Olsztyn, defend off the Teutonic knights from the Olsztyn Castle. After he graduated from the University of Cracow, Copernicus went back to Torun, Poland, and got accepted to become a Canon at a Roman cathedral, that was arranged by his uncle. Later on, he traveled to Italy to study religous law program at the University of Bologna. There, he met Domenico Maria Novara. They both, exchanged ideas and observations.
Death: Copernicus died on May 24, 1543, on his death bed at Fromburk, Poland.
